Rovsing and CRITICAL Software S.A. (Portugal) are contracted by ESA to perform the “ISVV for Evolutions in Software Development Methods and Processes” project. The activity concerns the adaptation of ESA’s ISVV processes to current software development practices (processes and methods), to update these processes and methods accordingly and to applying them into projects.

Rovsing has ample experience with Independent Software Verification and Validation (ISVV) projects for ESA programmes (most recently: MetOp-SG Platform and Instrument S/W, ExoMars RV S/W).

In a nutshell, the following activities will be employed:

• Assessment of the impact of modern software development practices to software (I)V&V activities and adapt ISVV processes accordingly.
• Incorporate experience from over 10 years of use by ESA and Industry of the existing ISVV Guide into ISVV processes.
• Assessment of modern and alternative methods to perform ISVV, and improve the ISVV methods accordingly.
• Upgrade ESA’s ISVV guide to an ISVV Handbook and align it to latest ECSS SW development standards.

For this activity, funded by ESA’s GSTP budget, Rovsing will be the subcontractor of CRITICAL Software. The kick-off of the project is scheduled for June this year.
